Vietnam Surpasses Thailand as China’s Favorite Travel Spot – Bloomberg
This summer, many Chinese travelers are choosing Vietnam over Thailand, marking a big shift in Asia’s tourism trends.
Take Hu Jia, a mother from Sichuan province. Instead of heading to Thailand’s famous beaches and temples, she booked a two-week family trip to Vietnam. Safety concerns about Thailand played a big role in her decision.
Hu, along with her husband and two young sons, explored Vietnam in July, traveling from the bustling capital of Hanoi to the coastal city of Danang on a luxury sleeper bus. Their journey highlights a growing trend: more Chinese tourists are finding Vietnam to be an exciting, affordable, and safe alternative to Thailand.
Vietnam’s mix of history, culture, and natural beauty is winning over travelers. Cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City offer vibrant street food and lively markets, while destinations such as Hoi An and Ha Long Bay provide postcard-perfect views. At the same time, Vietnam’s tourism industry has been working hard to welcome Chinese visitors with tailored services, direct flights, and competitive prices.
For years, Thailand was the top choice for Chinese tourists. But now, Vietnam has taken the lead, thanks to its rising popularity and growing reputation as a safe and friendly destination.
