Ray J arrested after ex-wife accuses him of pointing gun during livestream confrontation | KTLA
Singer and actor Ray J was arrested in Los Angeles on Thursday morning after police responded to a report of a domestic dispute that was allegedly broadcast live on Instagram.
Ray J, whose real name is Willie Norwood, is 44 and well known for hit songs like “One Wish” and “Sexy Can I.” He is also the younger brother of Grammy-winning singer Brandy.
According to the LAPD, officers arrived after a 911 caller reported a possible custody dispute and claimed Ray J might have been armed. He was taken to the Van Nuys Station, where his bail was set at $50,000.
ABC News reached out to Ray J’s representatives and attorneys, but no comments were immediately available.
Celebrity outlets, including TMZ, reported that Ray J was livestreaming during the incident and talked about having what he described as “the worst Thanksgiving.” During the stream, he allegedly picked up a handgun and argued with his wife, Princess Love Norwood, over the custody of their children.
Ray J and Princess Love married in 2016. Since then, the couple has filed for divorce multiple times, including a new petition filed in February 2024, which appears to still be active. They share two young children: Melody Love, 7, and Epik Ray, 5.
The couple is also known for appearing together on the reality series Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood from 2014 to 2019.
As this story develops, more details are expected from Ray J’s legal team and family representatives.
