Rebecca Sneed, the wife of convicted murderer Lyle Menendez, has confirmed their separation after over 20 years of marriage. The attorney addressed the matter in a Facebook post, clarifying that the couple has been separated “for a while now.” Despite the split, Sneed emphasized their strong bond, stating they “remain best friends and family.”
Sneed debunked recent rumors of infidelity, firmly denying claims that Lyle, 56, was involved in an affair with a 21-year-old University of Manchester student. “Our breakup was NOT caused by a cheating scandal,” she wrote, putting an end to the speculation.
The couple, who married in 2003 while Lyle was serving a life sentence for the 1989 murders of his parents, has been in the spotlight recently following the Netflix series “Monsters,” which dramatizes the Menendez brothers’ crime and trial.
Sneed assured followers that she remains committed to fighting for Lyle and his brother Erik’s freedom. “I will never stop fighting for them,” she wrote, adding that she continues to manage Lyle’s social media presence with his input.
Lyle, reflecting on their 20th wedding anniversary earlier this month, expressed gratitude for Sneed’s support. He acknowledged the challenges of maintaining a marriage while incarcerated, calling Sneed’s belief in him instrumental in his journey toward becoming a better person.
With renewed calls from public figures, including Kim Kardashian, advocating for the brothers’ resentencing, the Menendez case continues to capture widespread attention.
